I want to be a mermaid

Yep, you read that right.

As a kid, I remember the first thing I ever wanted to be was a mermaid. I LOVED that film (the disney cartoon), and also then the movie Splash with Tom Hanks and Daryl Hannah.

I went to a birthday party in the local pool aged around 6, and nearly broke my eyes because my best friend and I were swimming around under (the highly chlorinated) water pretty much constantly for like an hour. Being mermaids. Oops.

Anyway, lesson learnt! Wear goggles kids.

This morning I went for a swim. I have discovered there is an outdoor 25m pool close to my house which I can join as a member… (remember I live in the caribbean so an outdoor pool is not a problem). I wasn’t particularly good at the swimming (no goggles, so my face was not going into the water! and just old lady breast stroke) but I enjoyed it. I think one of the important things when I’m moving towards my best me and building the habits that will serve me in future, is to do things which I enjoy.

I like swimming. So I’m going to buy some goggles and include swimming in my activity plans. #mermaidintraining
